Triptorelin is a synthetic decapeptide analogue of gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH). It reduces the secretion of gonadotropins, specifically luteinizing hormone and follicle-stimulating hormone from the pituitary gland, leading to decreased testosterone levels.

 

Triptorelin is also utilized in treating hormone-sensitive cancers like prostate cancer and breast cancer, as well as estrogen-dependent conditions and assisted reproductive technology. It alleviates symptoms associated with prostate cancer but does not treat the cancer itself. Additionally, this medication is used by physicians for gender identity disorders.
